With over 25 years of experience in the corporate world as a manager and director in various multinational companies, an unexpected change led Gustavo Miranda to shift towards coaching. Since then, he has worked on helping both individuals and organizations develop their potential and live more consciously and purposefully. His experience has allowed him to combine his business knowledge with his passion for personal growth, bringing a practical, results-oriented perspective.

About me, in brief

I am from Costa Rica. For more than 25 years I dedicated my life to the corporate world as a manager or director of multinational companies in various industries in Central America, Andean and United States. In 2018 after a layoff I decided to venture on a journey where my focus is to accompany organisations and people to discover their potential and live their life intentionally.

Even with all my experience, I have found that my path has brought me to where I am today. I have had to go through a divorce to find true love, face rejection thousands of times to become a great salesperson, get fired to find the best job of my life, feel lonely to become an enthusiastic collaborator, fail at wanting to please everyone to understand that my happiness is my responsibility alone, be lost in the midst of chaos to connect and live my purpose.

Especially in the last 2 years, I decided to immerse myself in learning coaching through the European School of Coaching where I found the impulse I was looking for to further strengthen not only my coaching, but to discover wonderful things about myself and to take charge of them with love and confidence.

What is your passion?

Intentional living. To fulfil my calling to help organisations in the formation of leaders and to accompany people to live intentionally from a space of trust, abundance and self-love.

News I would like to hear

Any news that has to do with the extraordinary achievement of one of my clients or my close family.

My greatest achievement

My greatest achievement is living today. The moment of power, the only one where I can... It is to embrace and cultivate the awareness that if I am well everything around me is well. That I am my priority and that the best gift I can give to others is the gift of choosing to cultivate my own wellbeing.

My biggest challenge

My biggest challenge today is to stay focused and at the same time listen to my heart with wisdom, to give free rein to my intuition.

Where do I see myself in three years?

I see myself developing to become a coaching instructor.

Accompanying more people around the world through online solutions to discover and develop their potential.

I see myself expanding my voice to help organisations build leaders and teams that generate results that make a positive impact for themselves and those they serve.

The last time I was moved...

When I watched my daughter sharing her professional and personal success and mentioning the influence I have had on her entire journey.

I can't suppress a scream when...

With the attitudes of injustice and victimhood.

My friends say about me...

That I am the best friend you can have because I know how to listen and be present. That I am passionate about any process that involves learning and that I am an example of living with intentionality and perseverance.

What I do best is...

Listen and be present.

I would like...

Give more substance to my message of intentional living and leadership.

I never thought that...

Feeling at my most energetic and creative after my 50th birthday.

How do I recharge the batteries?

I enjoy running and walking outdoors. I find it recharging to share lunch, coffee or dinner with someone I love (my partner, my daughter, my mother, my father). Reading a book related to mental and physical well-being.

What do I need to be happy?

Especially in the last few years and in my processes in the School, I have discovered that I don't need anything to be happy. I have decided to be happy through keeping myself in an attitude of appreciation for life. Even allowing myself to navigate all emotions and be open to learn and move forward with the invitations they bring into my life. And especially by deciding to listen more to my heart and intuition.

I wish that...

As long as I am in this world, may I accompany more people to live intentionally more out of love and less out of fear. May I continue to be with an attitude of greater appreciation for life.

Through coaching, I learned...

To value people. Especially to cultivate an awareness that we all have potential waiting to be discovered. That we are HUMAN BEINGS, not HAVINGS or DOINGS. That even if we no longer do what we do or have what we have, what remains is us: who we are, OUR BEING.

I especially learned how to become comfortable with not knowing and become an eternal learner as a coach.

For me, coaching is...

Accompanying and discovering.

In which groups would I like to apply coaching?

Definitely in the corporate environment helping executives and teams.

Also accompanying people to take the first steps to improve their confidence, their relationships, their profession, their business and especially to live an intentional life.

What training/research/experience complements my coaching studies?

I have been deepening with trainings in the school of emotions, wellness, supervision and outside the school on positive intelligence, Tribal Leadership, Strenghths based leadership and Secure based leadership.

What could you bring to the EEC Alumni community?

I bring my presence, my listening and my passion to serve in all the spaces where I work.

I am excited to train in the future as a coaching instructor following in the footsteps of the great mentors I have had in all my trainings.

What question have I missed that you would like to ask and answer?

Why did I decide to enrol in the European coaching school? Although I had done a coaching certification at an ICF-approved school in Latin America, I felt that my language, my presence was not at the level of my mentors.

During these years my mentors loved working with me on training programmes or live programmes, until one day I shared my feelings with Arianna Martínez, an EEC graduate. Accompanied by her, I discovered that the difference was in the hours of training and in the quality of the training itself.

I decided to look for references about the best team coaching schools in the world and many recommendations led me to the EEC. I decided to enrol and as I told Luis, I thought I was a coach but I was playing house. From that experience I decided to do Executive Coaching again, this time in the EEC cycle 1 and 2 and since then I have not stopped being connected with the trainings and mentors of the school.

Today, when some people ask me where to start on the coaching path, I always answer: with high quality training, and in my case I trained and continue to train in EEC.
